Selecting
art for the entertainment center was not an easy task. The developers
of the concept wanted to bring something different to the Youngstown
area and sorted through (sometimes painfully) posters of dogs
playing pool, skylines, movie stars, beer signs and other typical
bar wall decor. The same conclusion was reached each time, absolutely
not! The wall art need to compliment the Tuscany style wall texturing
of Joe Testa, and give the look and feel of an art gallery. The
goal was reached in the works of a San Diego based abstract artist,
Corina Pickens. Each unique painting comes to life against the
deep wine background and the small halogen lamps overhead.
Corina, a native of New Orleans, where art and festivals were
a great influence, began expressing herself on canvas at the age
of 10. Through the encouragement of one teacher in particular,
she continued to pursue painting as a career with a fascination
for color and positive emotion in each work. While she works to
do custom art to suit any decor, Corina's latest passion is the
technique of joining acrylics and oils, to create vibrant colors.
An application which provokes the viewer to see beyond the ordinary. |
